The varsity Blue Devil girls defeated the Vinemont Eagles 38-37 after a well-fought game from start to finish.
Sydnee Fitzgerald led in scoring with 13 points and also had eight rebounds, while Erika Johnson finished with eight points and added her own 14 rebounds.

Head coach Jonathan Lacy said it wasn’t his girls’ best performance, but he was proud of their effort for the entire 32 minutes.
“We didn’t play our best ball tonight,” Lacy said. “Our team fought hard down the stretch to hold on to the win. We still have players getting over some sickness, but we as a team need to fix a few things. I am confident we will bounce back and play better basketball in our next game.” Other Falkville scoring contributors included Ravyn Gilstrap, Savannah Fowler and Makenzie Veal, who each had two points; Gabby Legg, three points; and Casey Barfield and Abby Speegle, four points each.

Falkville 70, American Christian Academy 13

The Falkville girls had a full roster participate in their runaway victory against American Christian Academy last week.
Veal led the team with seven rebounds and also added 11 points. Legg also finished the night with 11 points, while Johnson had 10.

Other scorers included Gilstrap with nine; Speegle with seven; Fowler, Haley Owens and Sydnee Fitzgerald with four each; Jaxon Hunter and Ellie Kate Hill with three each; and Tory Hathcock and Casey Barfield with one each.
The Blue Devils finished the high-scoring game 70-13.

Lacy said he was proud every player was able to get her hands in the 70 points.
“We came out quick and set the tone in the first quarter,” Lacy said. “We really needed a bounce-back game like this. In recent games, we have been struggling to score the ball when we get really good looks. We have been telling our players to keep working and keep a positive mindset, and those shots will start falling again soon. They did exactly that.
“It is always a good when every player on the team is able to contribute points in a game.”
