Weddings: Lauren and Robert Sharp

Lauren and Robert Sharp

How we met:“We met five years ago at our mutual friend’s wedding, we were both actually in the wedding party. They had planned for us to walk down the aisle together in hopes we might start liking each other and oh boy had they picked just the right people (perfect match makers) . We hit it off immediately and by the next day he had already asked for my number so we could start texting. We went on dates on and off for close to three months then we went our separate ways. Not even four months later I got a text while I was sitting in one of my college classes that said, “hey, how have you been?” They always say you just know when you know and that day I told myself I truly think this is the guy…four months later rolled by and he FINALLY asked me to be his girlfriend on the 4th of July(2014).August 5th rolled around I had just got the guts up to tell him I loved him and as I was figuring out how to tell him, he said “I love you Lauren!!” OMG my heart almost exploded!! Our first year of dating was the greatest, then nursing school started and man did I struggle so that really put a damper on us because I was always busy and he was always working, but during those 2 hard years, our relationship with God grew, and he joined my childhood church(Shoal Creek) in the meantime. 2017 was a big year for us; he got a new job, I finished nursing school and life was looking up for our relationship.

The Proposal:
March 4, 2018 started out as a typical Sunday we went to church then after he wanted to go to Publix to get food for small group later that night. When we got there he then told me we had to go meet his mom & sister in law at their family farm to take Easter pictures of his niece/nephew with Rachel one of my best friends who just so happens to be a photographer(RAW Images), so nothing ever seemed out of the ordinary. We pulled up Rachel was there setting stuff up, she asked us to stand under the barn to check the lightning and right then and there he got down on one knee and asked me to MARRY him and I SAID YES!!!! We decided we wanted to go ahead and get married that same year so we planned our wedding for October 6, 2018.”

Wedding Details:
Honestly, wedding planning was one of the easiest things i’ve ever done, simply because I had so much help from family & friends and it all went really smooth. The week after we got engaged I picked out my dress from Something Blue because having worked there for 5 years I knew it took months to have a dress handmade. I did all the rest one day at a time and it all fell into place with all of the help I had.

Me, my bridesmaids, and my mom along with Roberts mom all met at my uncle Barons hair salon around 8 that morning to start getting our hair and makeup done. Time literally flew by that day as we were all having a great time dancing around and talking as we all got ready. Robert and all of his groomsman gathered at the church(Shoal Creek Baptist) around 12 to eat lunch and get ready for pictures that were soon to start. We all started taking pictures, but Robert & I decided we didn’t want to do a first look and stick with the original seeing each other as I walked down the aisle to him. So instead we prayed behind a door, held hands and read our letters that we had wrote to each other and it was such a special moment for us before the ceremony. The ceremony at the church started at 4 and we were married by 4:30. Pictures started immediately after and they were all such a blur. We were done and arrived at our reception at Sykes Place on Bank Street for our grand entrance at 6. We had fun visiting with family and friends, eating delicious food, and dancing along with the Djs. Before we knew it, it was already 8:30 and the photographers were ready to take pictures of our exit which we left in one of my best friends dad’s antique corvettes that we got to drive away in. We wouldn’t have changed a single thing because that day was SO special to us.
