PRICEVILLE HANDLES DANVILLE TO OPEN AREA PLAY

Priceville 13, Danville 3

PRICEVILLE – Five different Lady Bulldogs drove in at least two runs as Priceville softball downed Danville 13-3 on Thursday to open 4A Area 15 play. Destinee Hargrove, Abigail Garrison, Madison Beddingfield, Kathleen Wheeler and Ashlyn McDonald all drove in two runs each to lead Priceville.

McDonald also put up a solid performance in the circle, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing just three earned runs while striking out two. Lindsey West finished the game 2-3 to lead Danville.

HARTSELLE HAMMERS DEVILS IN MID-WEEK MATCHUP

Hartselle 16, Lawrence County 8

MOULTON – An eight-run first inning ignited the Hartselle softball team to a comfortable 16-8 victory over Lawrence County on Thursday. It was a barrage of timely base hits that paced the Lady Tigers. Natalie King (3), Kenzie Parker (2), Kalli Cartee (2), Brooklyn Wallace (2), LaNinya Wiggins (2), Kylie Winton (2), Emily Cowart (1) and Mackenzie Jackson (1) all drove in runs in the winning effort.

It was again the Sparkman sister combination that led the way in the circle for the Lady Tigers. Morgyn Sparkman tossed 4.1 innings and struck out two Lawrence County hitters. Katy Sparkman finished the final 2.2 innings and allowed just one earned run.

BREWER FALLS LATE TO DECATUR

Decatur 15, Brewer 8

DECATUR – Heading into the fifth inning with a 5-0 lead, the Brewer softball team was unable to stave off a potent Decatur attack as they dropped a 15-8 decision on Thursday.

Decatur scored all 15 of their runs in the final three innings to claim the victory. Madisen Adams led the Brewer offense with a homerun, triple and four RBIs. Alecia Warnick and Hannah Buchanan each went 2-4 respectively at the plate for the Lady Patriots.

 

Baseball:

FALKVILLE TAKES DOWN BREWER BEHIND DODD’S GEM

Falkville 4, Brewer 3

SOMERVILLE – Jonathan Dodd dazzled on the mound for the Falkville baseball team as they took down Morgan County-rival Brewer 4-3 on Thursday afternoon. Dodd tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out three.

Alex Fowler, Jackson Nichols, Allen Vinson and Andrew Jones each tallied an RBI for the Blue Devils. Hayden Mahan led Brewer with a 2-4 effort. Carter Holmes tossed a solid 4.2 innings in relief for the Patriots, striking out seven Falkville hitters.

 

Soccer:

PRICEVILLE STAYS HOT WITH SHUTOUT OF MAE JEMISON

Priceville 6, Mae Jemison 0

PRICEVILLE – Olivia Duran powered the Priceville varsity girls soccer team past Mae Jemison 6-0 on Thursday afternoon. Duran notched four more goals to improve on her stellar season thus far and picked up an assist. Katrina Rotermund and Ines Von Mahland were the two other goal scorers for the Lady Bulldogs. Karli Wade tallied three assists in the victory.

WEST MORGAN DOMINATES MARS HILL IN TOP-10 MATCHUP

West Morgan 5, Mars Hill 2

FLORENCE – In a battle of two of the best teams in the 1A-3A class of varsity girls soccer, West Morgan picked up a dominant victory taking down Mars Hill 5-2.

Helena Jankowski tallied a hat trick for the Lady Rebels while Maribel Delgado picked up two goals and an assist. Joseline Lopez made five stops in net for West Morgan. The Lady Rebels improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in their area.
