Funeral service for Charlie Jackson McMillan Jr., 81, was Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mr. McMillan died Feb. 7 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

He was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Lawrence County to Charlie Jackson McMillan Sr. and Grace Jane Kelsoe McMillan. He was employed by Monsanto as a chem lab operator prior to his retirement and was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Cowboy (No Fences) Church. Mr. McMillan was a big Alabama fan and an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McMillan, his parents and a grandson, Justin Steadman.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy McMillan (Mary); one daughter, Charlene McMillan (Robert Walter); one son, Anthony Davis (Candita); two daughters, Darlene Thrasher (Ronnie) and Lisa Pylate (Dave); one sister, Faye Anders; special family friend and caregiver, Susan Koester; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Josh Twilley, Daniel Reese, Brandon Pylate, Trustin Pylate, Ronnie Thrasher and Anthony Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alacare Hospice or to Saving Forgotten Warriors in Cullman.
