Lady Tigers pick up back-to-back wins

HARTSELLE – After a tough semifinal loss in the Morgan County varsity girls tournament, Hartselle rebounded nicely with a pair of consecutive wins over Athens and Priceville.

The Lady Tigers – the No. 7 ranked team in Class 6A – used some clutch performances to pick up the victories. Moriah Taylor sank three free throws against Athens on Monday night in the final seconds to earn the 49-46 win.

Harstelle followed it up with a 59-46 over Class 4A No. 6 Priceville on Tuesday night. Taylor tallied a team-high 22 points in the victory that improved the squad to 18-4 on the season. Anna Mathis scored 11 for the Lady Tigers.

Kathleen Wheeler put in 12 points for the Bulldogs, followed by Anna Langlois and Jenna Walker with 10 points each.
