PRICEVILLE – For the first time since 2014, the Brewer varsity girls outlasted the field in the Morgan County Tournament to claim the program’s 18th county championship. The Patriots defeated Danville 60-52 to win the title on Saturday night.

Henslee Brindley scored 14 points to help lead Brewer to its first Morgan County Tournament championship since 2014.

After a hard-fought three quarters of play in which the two teams were tied 41-41, Brewer outscored the Hawks 19-11 in the final frame to earn the victory. Shyan Flack – who was named the Jane Nelson Fields Tournament MVP – was a big reason for the Patriots success down the stretch.

With the game tied at 48, and just under three minutes remaining in regulation, Flack reeled off five straight point, including a crucial three-point play that gave her team the lead for good. She became the first Patriot since Riley Northway to win the award.

Flack finished the contest with 18 points – 15 in the second half – to lead Brewer. Henslee Brindley tallied 14 and McCarley Northway scored 11. The win was particularly unique for Northway, who scored her 1,000th career point during the game.

Danville followed up their upset win over Hartselle with another strong showing against a 6A opponent. Emma Broadfoot caught fire in the second half, pouring in four three pointers on her way to a team-high 16 points. Jordan Hinkle also reached double figures for the Hawks with 11.
