Hartselle City Schools board names teachers of the year

HARTSELLE– The Hartselle City Schools board met Dec. 12 at Hartselle High School for the December meeting and honored six teachers and students for notable accomplishments.

Dr. Dee Dee Jones shared with members that Nanette Edde of Hartselle High School, Jamie Dutton of Barkley Bridge, Bethany Simpson of Hartselle Junior High School, Lane Hampton of Crestline Elementary, Kate Davis of F.E. Burleson and Julie Rhodes of Hartselle Intermediate School have been named Teacher of the Year for their respective schools.

“Julie Rhodes was selected Overall Elementary Teacher of the Year and will move on in the elementary division at the district level – so it’s all left up to the state now,” Jones said. “The overall winner for the secondary is Nanette Edde of Hartselle High School. She will also move onto the district level – now all the fun paperwork begins.”

Jones thanked all the teachers of the year for their hard work.

In other business the board:

Approved the following out-of-state field trips:

  • Hartselle High School mascots to travel to Orlando, Fla., to attend the Collegiate Mascot National Championships Jan 11-14.
  • Hartselle High School wrestling team to travel to Independence, Tenn., Dec. 30, to compete in a wrestling tournament.
  • Hartselle Junior High and Hartselle High School dance team students to travel to Orlando, Fla., Jan. 31.

The next board meeting will be Jan. 23 at Crestline Elementary School at 7:15 a.m.
