Funeral service for Rickey Lamar Garner, 64, of Hartselle, was Dec. 21 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe David Bailey and Bro. Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Herring Cemetery.

Mr. Garner died Dec. 17 at his residence. He was born Jan. 26, 1953, in Morgan County to James Lenord Garner and Velma Inez Breedlove Garner. Rickey was a graduate of Danville High School and was retired from the Morgan Farmer’s Cooperative. He was a longtime resident of Hartselle and the Ironman community, and he enjoyed bird hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Inez Garner, and two brothers, Frank and Gary Garner.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley and Jill VanVoorst, his caregiver. The family also requests that memorial gift be made to the Hospice of the Valley, in lieu of flowers.

Survivors include three brothers, Don Garner (Jannice), Tommy Garner (Sandra) and Larry Garner (Kathy); one sister, Shirley Garner Hale; two sisters-in-law, Jean Garner and Jan Garner; and one brother-in-law,

Richard Hale.

Pallbearers were Freddie Stephenson, Marty Reeves, Brad Vest, Buck McCulloch and his nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were friends from Ironman Grocery and the Morgan Farmer’s Co-op.
