DPD arrests mother after baby tests positive for cocaine

A woman was arrested recently following a two-month investigation after her baby boy tested positive for cocaine at the time of his birth.

Sept. 1, Nastarsha Bolding gave birth to a boy at Decatur-Morgan Hospital at the Parkway Campus. At the time of the infant’s birth, he tested positive for cocaine.

A joint investigation was conducted by the Morgan County Department of Human Resources and the Decatur Police Department.

Nastarsha Bolding was arrested recently following a two-month investigation after her baby boy tested positive for cocaine at the time of his birth.

Nov. 21, at approximately 3 p.m., Detective Jarrod Birchfield obtained a warrant for Bolding’s arrest for the charge of chemical endangerment of a child.

The next day at 1:30 p.m., Bolding turned herself into the Decatur Police Department.

She was transported to the Morgan County Jail and held on a $2,500 bond.

Officers said it is unknown at this time whether the child will suffer any long-term effects or disabilities as a result of the drug exposure.
