Funeral service for Gene Wilson, 86, of Falkville was Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Miller and the Rev. Samuel Nisely officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Herring Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson passed away Oct. 3 at  his residence. He was born March 8, 1931, in Walker County to Nathaniel Wilson and Hassie Lee McClellan Wilson. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Cullman. He was retired from Monsanto after 24 years of service.

Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion and served on the Honor Guard Team. He was also a member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Wilson, his parents and his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son, Jackie Wilson (Mary) of Huntsville; four daughters, Wanda Walsh (David), Connie Hill (Tommie), JoAnn Thompson (Tony) and Kim Smith (Chris) all of Falkville; 15 grandchildren, Miranda Morrow, Nikki Exum, Caylor Dye, Cody Sewell, Marieanne Walsh, Johnny Cobb, Wesley Cobb, Brad Cobb, Jonathan Hill, Amy Blaylock, Amanda Thompson, Daniel Wilson, Ellie Wilson, Jordan Smith and Kaitlyn Smith; nine great-grandchildren; and special niece and caregiver Helen Peak. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
