HAUNTED TRAILS OF TERROR WELCOMES EVERYONE

Everyone is welcome to attend the 9th Annual “Scare of Your Life” at the Haunted Trails of Terror. The Haunted Trails of Terror is located at 336 County Road 590, Hanceville, AL 35077. The haunted activities will be from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31 and their schedule is listed as follows: every Wednesday and Thursday night from 7 to 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday nights from 7 p.m. to midnight, Sunday night from 7 to 10:30 p.m. and they will be closed Monday and Tuesday. You never know what is waiting around the corner at the haunted trails of terror so come prepared to be scared. If you haven’t visited the haunted trails of terror, “What are you waiting on?” “ARE YOU SCARED?” Come on out and bring your friends for a scareful good time. Area residents enjoyed the September Senior Citizen’s lunch on Wed., Sept. 7 at Lebanon Baptist Church’s fellowship hall. The theme for the meal was Tailgate and Alabama’s Colleges and Universities colors, mascots and photos were used in table decorations. Also, creative talents by area residents were displayed.

Mt. Vernon Methodist Church’s “All Day Convention Singing ” will be the fourth Sunday, Sept. 24, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A bountiful lunch at noon will be a treat. Gospel singing will continue following lunch. The event is chaired by a committee consisting of Carol and Delton Vaughn, Denise Collins and also Linda Walker. Everyone is welcome to attend the all day singing and lunch.

On Sept. 22, Friday, the Falkville Public Library Board will meet in the office meeting room at 4:30 p.m. Jenny Asherbranner, Librarian reports that the board members will plan activities for the Falkville Fall Festival, to be held on Sat., Oct. 14. The Library has used books on sale during Library hours.

The Massey Schools and Community Annual reunion will be Sat., Oct. 7 at the Massey Fire Station Community Center, on Evergreen Road. If you have questions about memorabilia to bring, food and times, call Frances Rowe at 256-462-3875. Displays and photos will be ready for viewing on Friday night, Oct. 6. Last year interested people wrote about a tornado memory or an account of one of the tornadoes of 1932, 1952, 1955 and 1957 that someone had told them. Those were combined into a booklet. Some, who attended spoke at the reunion about the events some are planning to speak about this year. There will also be a friendship quilt made in the 1930’s by some of the Community Women.

Corinth West Methodist Church Family is planning a fish fry for the membership to be held on Sat., Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. Fish fry pots will be used outside the fellowship hall in the shade. Those attending will enjoy, hush puppies, fries, slaw, desserts and drinks. Bud Woods is the chef for the event.

The Women’s Missionary Union at Mt. Zion Baptist Church met on Monday, at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, at the church. Beverly Murphy presided at the meeting. A business session had a discussion on projects, possible for the Falkville Fall Festival, which will be held on Oct. 14. Other fundraisers and outreach for community needs were mentioned. The group joined in the Monday Bible Study, after adjournment.
