Morgan County had another student athlete sign to play in college when Danville’s Morgan Weatherwax signed to play softball at Wallace State Community College.

A reception was held in the library of Danville high School in Weatherwax’s honor with friends, family, teammates and coaches in attendance.

Troy Wilkerson who is the stepfather of Weatherwax and also served as her assistant softball coach at Danville spoke of about what kind of player that Wallace is getting. “She gives 100 percent all the time. She’s a hard worker and a leader.” Wilkerson said. “She’s one of the only kids I’ve ever known to be able to play all nine positions.”

Weatherwax is looking forward to continue her career at Wallace. “I love that it’s close to home and I just felt that I was being drawn there.” Weatherwax said. “I’m really excited to join the program because they make it to nationals almost every year and are very successful.”
