When I read Psalm 70: 1-5 it seems to me like an urgent prayer for help. It can be your prayer when you’re short on time and long on need. 1.) Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord. 2.) Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul; let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. 3) Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, Aha. 4.) Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee; and let such as love thy salvation say continually, let God be magnified. 5) But I am poor and needy, make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer, O Lord make no tarrying. This is a Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. Here we find David pleading with God to rush to help him. Yet even though David was in panic mode he didn’t forget to praise God. So many times in our prayers we are requesting things for ourselves and others and we forget to thank God for what and all that he has already done for us. We shouldn’t take God for granted and only call on him when we have a need.
