A Charles Dickens Christmas in Hartselle

By Lauren Thornton Tobin

The four spirits of Christmas are coming to the Hartselle High School Auditorium on Nov. 17, 18 and 19.

The College Street Players theatre group present “A Dickens Christmas Carol,” based on the story by Charles Dickens and adapted by Gary Peterson.

This is the ninth year for the Players to perform together but the first time for this production, said Street Players board president Jenny Falk.

“This is basically the classic Charles Dickens version of the story,” she said. “It can be dark at times…and we try to keep true to the story, but there are also lighthearted moments.”

Falk said her favorite part about the play is the carolers because they hint audience members on what is to come while sticking to the true roots of the story.

“It’s just a classic story of Scrooge and his hardened heart and the spirits who show him what to expect of Christmas, and what he can do to change it,” she said.

Show Dates are:

7 p.m. Nov.17-19

2 p.m. Nov. 19
