Funeral for Blanche Stone Echols, 88, of Hartselle was Fri., Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle, with Bro. Charles Shaddix officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Center Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Echols died Wed., Nov. 2, 2016. She was born August 23,1928, in Alachua, Fla., to Jerry and Jennie Stone.
She graduated from Crossville High School and attended Jacksonville State University. She taught third grade at Cotaco Elementary School and later was a substitute teacher at Hartselle Junior High from 1969-1984.  She served as a volunteer at The Caring Place from 1995-2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church Hartselle, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, GA leader and VBS director. She met her husband, Sherman, in zoology class at Jacksonville. He was one of the many veterans attending college on the GI Bill. They were married
May 3, 1947. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sherman Echols; her parents; a sister, Joyce White and three brothers, Bill, Dan and Earl Stone.
She is survived by a son, Randall Echols (Lisa) of Peachtree City, Ga.; two daughters, Sherry Echols of Hartselle and Dr. Jennie Echols of Cumming, Ga.; two  grandchildren, Jessica Echols and Wesley Echols; and many nieces and nephews.
