July 3, 2016

Funeral for Regina Garrett Van Meter, 60, of Hartselle was Wed., July 6, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shawn Apking officiating.

A graveside service for Mrs. Van Meter was Thurs., July 7, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at Alexander Cemetery in Brownsville, Ky. with the Rev. Gerald Vaughn and Dr. Charles Van Meter officiating. A visitation was at CrossPoint Church in Leitchfield, Ky., from 1 to 3 p.m on Thur. prior to the graveside service at Gravil Funeral Home in Brownsville, Ky.

Mrs. Van Meter died Sun., July 3, 2016, at her home in Hartselle. She was born Oct. 25, 1955, in Brownsville, Ky., to Earl Owen Garrett and Hertha Lee Wells Garrett. She was a faithful wife for 40 years, a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters and grandmother to her 12 grandchildren. She can be best described as a servant with a heart of compassion. She showed this through foreign mission work and by applying herself wholly to her patients over the years as a nurse practitioner. She was most fulfilled in her love for God; joy in her family and caring for others all around the world.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Van Meter of Hartselle; two daughters, Evin Hancock (Gregg) of Leitchfield, Ky., Kacie Goe (Joshua) of Hartselle; three brothers, Danny Garrett of Cave City, Ky., Dale Garrett of Brownsville, Ky. and Kevin Garrett of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to: Hope for Tomorrow Children’s Home, 135 Lackawanna Road, Lexington, Ky., 40503.
