Funeral for Shirley Knighten Hammon, 76, of Hartselle, was Thur., June 9, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dewayne Harper officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery at Florette.

Ms. Hammon died Mon., June 6, 2016, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was born in Morgan County on March 30, 1940, and was a resident of Hartselle. She was a cook for many years and a restaurant owner of Irene’s Catch at Morgan City, after which she retired. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Knighten and Cebell West Knighten; four brothers, Howard Knighten, Herschel Knighten, Duke Knighten and Jackie Knighten; and a sister, Jody Harbison.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Smith (Joette) of Falkville (Oden Ridge) and Terry Smith of Falkville; a daughter, Pamela Morrow (Rodney Brady) of Hartselle; a brother, Rocky Knighten (Sharon) of Morgan City; a sister, Bonnie Faye Self (Frank) of Cullman; three grandchildren, Eric Smith, Emily King and Sydney Roper; and two great-grandchildren, John Brodie Robertson and Erin Renee Page.

Pallbearers were Joel Gurley, Dale McCutcheon, Rickey Knighten, Joe Royster, Toney Royster and Eric Smith.
