Falkville man drowns at Mallard Creek
A Falkville man drowned in Mallard Creek in Moulton Sat., Aug. 1, according to local news reports.
Ronald Cook, 57, was boating with his wife and grandchildren, and an inner tube was attached to the boat. When the inner tube had connection problems, Cook got in the water to try to fix it. The boat drifted away from him, and Cook became too fatigued to make it back to the boat. His wife attempted to save him but was unable to reach him in time.
Lawrence County Coroner Greg Randolph pronounced Cook dead just after noon that day. Because the event was witnessed, no autopsy will be performed.
