Baseball raises $6,500 with corn
The Hartselle High School baseball team was once again the lucky recipient of a local farmer’s generosity.
The baseball team gathered 1,300 dozen ears of Obsession II corn from the farmer’s crop. The corn was sold to willing and able buyers enabling the team to raise $6,500.
The local farmer furnished the land, seed, and fertilizer and as well as irrigated and made sure the area and a half of corn was fed correctly.
All the team had to do was pick the corn and deliver it to buyers who were ready and willing to buy the fresh corn.
This is the second year the team has had this fund raiser.
According to someone associated with the team, it really gives the players ownership in the annual fund raising efforts.
