Man stabbed at Hartselle Shell

A 22 year old Somerville man was stabbed at the Shell station on Highway 36 near the interstate Monday night, according to Sheriff Ana Franklin.

Morgan County Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 8:15 p.m. from the Shell station at 1803 Main Street East. A young man had come into the store and told the clerk to call 911 because he had been stabbed.

Deputies arrived on scene and observed the victim sitting on an island between the pumps with several people around him. He was bleeding and a female was pressing paper towels against his wound.

EMT and ambulance personnel arrived, assessed the victim and transported him to Huntsville Hospital.

The alleged assailant had already left the scene, but the victim identified him as Lewis Dylan Montgomery to sheriff’s deputies. Investigators responded and were able to develop corroborating evidence.

Montgomery was located and arrested on a charge of assault second degree. He was held in the Morgan County Jail with a $2,500 bond.

As of press time, the victim remained in Huntsville Hospital.
