Hartselle Utilities warns of payment scam

A phone scam affecting Hartselle Utilities customers was recently reported.

Victims have reported contact from people identifying themselves as Hartselle Utilities employees. The victim is then notified that they have delinquent payments that can be settled by giving them their bank routing information for immediate payment.

Some reports even mention that a false phone number was given that was answered as Hartselle Utilities.

In response to the scam, Hartselle Utilities assured their customers that they will never call customers after business hours, ask for payment over the phone, request confidential bank account information or ask customers to wire money to them as immediate payment. If a customer should receive a suspicious call asking for any of these things, Hartselle Utilities instructed that he or she should hang up the phone.

To contact Hartselle Utilities, call Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 256-773-3340.
