Virgil “Wayne” Knighten

Funeral for Virgil “Wayne” Knighten, 73, of Lacey’s Spring will be Wed., July 8, at 2 p.m. at Cotaco Methodist Church with Bro. John Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tues., July 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Knighten died Sun., July 5, 2015, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Morgan County to Virgil “Mutt” Knighten and Jessie Inez Lenox Knighten. He was a member of the Cotaco United Methodist Church and was employed in Quality Control for PPG Industries prior to his retirement. He was an avid Alabama Fan and loved to fish. He was part of the “Jack’s” crowd at Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jo Jennings.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Knighten of Lacey’s Spring; three sons, Greg Knighten (Lynne) of Priceville, Stacy Knighten (Teresa) of Petersburg, Tenn. and Jason Knighten (Nancy) of Decatur; a daughter, Melissa Bryant (Kevin) of Lacey’s Spring; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Casey Knighten, Timmy Jennings, Jacky Huskey, J.S. Ivey, Steve Cooper and Mark Mayes.
