Lanier, Owen exchange vows

Maela Joy Lanier and Nathan William Owen were married May 30, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Cave Spring Baptist Church in Decatur by the Rev. Jason Moore.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Lanier of Hartselle and the granddaughter of Mr. And Mrs. Edgar D. Griggs of Rogersville and Mrs. Charlene Lanier and the late Wayne Lanier of Florence.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Owen Jr. of Cincinatti, Ohio and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Headrick of Grant and Mr. and Mrs. James W. Owen Sr. of Scottsboro.

The bride was given in marriage by her father James C. Lanier. She wore an ivory, ruffled Oleg Cassini gown with a sweetheart neckline along with a chapel veil. She carried a bouquet of ivory peonies.

The maid of honor was Jordan Hall of Alabaster and the bridal attendants were Amanda Cox of Cullman, Anne Townsend of New Orleans, La., J’Cee Hyatt of Cullman, Cory Livingston of Hartselle, Katy Beth Bole of Hartselle, Haley Davenport of Alabaster and Lauren Owen of Union City, Tenn.

The bridesmaids wore a spa blue gown with a sweetheart neckline. They carried a bouquet of blush pink hydrangeas and peonies.

The flower girl was Mollie Jane Lawson, and ring bearer was Ross Blankenship.

The best man was James W. Owen Jr., father of the groom. The groomsmen were Levi Lanier and Josiah Lanier, both of Hartselle, Wilfredo Custodio of Houston, Texas, Will Tiffin of Hartselle, Keeton Griggs of Athens, Jonathon Bates of Houston, Texas and Payton Sittason of Hartselle.

Music was provided by Katie Lanier and Angela Smith.

The reception was on the lawn behind the church.

The wedding director was Rhonda Flippo, and fellow teachers, the bride’s mother and current students of Red Mountain Community School catered and served at the reception. Molly Flippo and Emily Griggs were the bride book attendants.

The rehearsal party was at Francesca’s in Decatur by Mr. and Mrs. James W. Owen, parents of the groom, and the bridal luncheon was at Cahoots in Hartselle given by the aunts of the bride.

The honeymoon trip was to Jamaica.

The couple will reside in Madison.
