In May, four Hartselle High School Medical Academy students took their national exams, and all four passed.

In the fall of 2014, the HHS Medical Academy established itself as a testing site for healthcare certifications though the Nation Health Career Association.

Senior students in the Medical Academy are eligible to participate in the program. Currently there are three certification options available, including certified EKG technician, certified pharmacy technician and certified patient care technician.

After completing test prep sessions and taking practice tests, the students are eligible to sit for the national exams.

These students were Sydney Crow, Cooper Wright, Sydnee Wiley and Ali Kent. Crow, Wright and Wiley are now certified EKG technicians, and Kent is now a certified patient care technician.

These students plan to use their new certifications and skills to work in healthcare while attending college.
