Man and woman arrested in Somerville

A man and woman were arrested in Somerville on Tues., May 19, after a welfare check on children.

Andrew Vaughan, 33, and Leann Cassidy Hersey, 26, were arrested at 318 Bluff City Rd. Lot E-3 in Somerville after Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents were

informed that there was possible drug use at the home. Upon the agents arrival, Hersey confessed to them that she had bought medicine containing pseudoephedrine and sold it to methamphetamine cooks several times within the past month. Hersey was arrested, and Morgan County DHR attempted to place the children, ages 2 and 7 months, in foster care. When this occurred, Vaughan resisted DHR and was also arrested.

Hersey was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substances second degree and was taken to the Morgan County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Vaughan was also taken to the Morgan County Jail on a $300 bond on charges of obstruction of a governmental operation.

The Morgan County Drug Task Force asks anyone who knows of children being exposed to drugs to call them at 256-351-4816.
