The Singles Greet & Meet of North Alabama will be having a social dance at the
Hartselle Civic Center April 18 from 7-10 p.m. Music will be provided by Glen Wood and the Rustyspur Band. There will be a $5 charge at the door. There will be a beginning line dance class from 6-7 pm.

The Hartselle High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society will induct its 12 charter members Sun., April 11, at 2 p.m. in the HHS lecture hall. A reception will immediately follow.

Hartselle Parks and Recreation will have a Pinterest party to paint door hangers, April 21 at 6 p.m. The theme will be a chalkboard rooster hanger and a frog. Participants must register for this class by April 17, for a fee a $15 per project at the Sparkman Civic Center. Children are welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult that is also taking the class.
The annual Somerville Celebration Festival will be Fri., May 1. There will be food, a 5K and one-mile fun run, antique car show and fireworks. Live music will be provided by Wayne Abbott as Willie Nelson, Garrett & Briana Dean and the Fellowship Quartet. Vendors set up by 3 p.m., the music and 5K start at 5 p.m. and the fireworks start at 9 p.m. Parking is free and there is no entry fee. Hartselle’s New Beginnings Quilt Guild meets on the second Thursday of each month at the Farm Service Agency office on Alabama 36 west of downtown Hartselle. Senior Nutrition Center, also known as the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for friendly visiting, serious Rook and Canasta, a loud game of Texas spinner dominoes, sing-a-longs, informative chats and so much more. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Groups also participate in evening supper bus trips. Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.
