Funeral for Vida Mae McGee Ray, 90, was Tues., March 31, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks and Chaplain Rich Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray died Sun., March 29, 2015, at her residence. She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Morgan County to William Milby McGee and Martha Colula Henderson. Mrs. Ray, better known to her family as Maw-Maw, was a loving individual who supplied love and joy to all her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Lee Ray; and a son-in-law, Ronald K. Howard. She retired from the Lurleen Wallace Center in 1989, after 18 years of service to the state. The family would like to recognize her two caregivers, Danielle Smith and Amanda Millette, along with Vicki Turrentine and Sherri Fuqua and the entire staff of Hospice of the Valley.

She is survived by a son, Wesley Ray (Cinthy); three daughters, Shirley Harris (Bobby), Kathy Howard and Anita Bennett (Chris); a stepdaughter, Addie Lee Dobbs (Jeff); four grandchildren, Jason Harris, Rusty Harris (Amy), Nicholas Howard (Rachel) and Tyler Bennett (Wendy Bemis); and five great-grandchildren, Serra Harris, Kayla Harris, Katie Harris, Khloe Harris and Nathan Cagle.

Pallbearers were Jason Harris, Nicholas Howard, Chris Bennett, Rusty Harris, Tyler Bennett and David Carroll.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, the Humane Society or to Meals on Wheels.
