HHS Freshman Baseball Round-up for March 24

Freshmen knock off Cullman

Hartselle’s freshmen Tigers scored five runs in the first inning and went on to defeat Cullman 9-7 in a home game March 18.

Britt Gillette pounded out a pair of singles, had an RBI and scored a run. Houston Wright had an RBI single and scored a run.

Garrett Wade and Chuck Ord each had an RBI single. Avery Mills had a two-RBI single. Jackson Terry had a double. Connor McKee singled and scored a run, and Ethan Ellis singled.

Garrett Wade pitched four innings and was credited with the win.  He allowed three runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking two. Jackson Terry pitched an inning, allowing three runs on one hit while striking out one and walking two. Ethan Ellis pitched two innings, allowing one run on one hit while walking one batter.

 

Hoover 10, Hartselle 0

 

Hartselle’s Freshmen Tigers came up empty handed in a 10-0 loss to Hoover on the road March 18.

Britt Gillette doubled and Houston Wright and Chuck Ord each had a single for Hartselle.

Wright was tagged with the loss. He allowed 10 runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking one.

 

James Clemens 6, Hartselle 5

 

Hartselle’s Freshmen Tigers held their own for six innings before yielding a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and losing to James Clemens 5-4 in a road game Thursday

Riley Wood paced the Tigers in hitting with a double, single, an RBI and scored one run. Houston Wright had an RBI single and scored a run,  Chuck Ord had an RBI single, Ethan Ellis and Connor Burks each singled and scored a run and Britt Gillette had an RBI.

Ellis pitched two and one-third innings and was tapped with the loss. He allowed five runs on three hits while striking out three batters. Ord went four innings, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking four.

 

HHS 8, James Clemens 1

 

Hartselle’s Freshman Tigers defeated  James Clemens 8-1 in a road game Thursday.

Riley Wood led Hartselle in hitting with a pair of doubles, a single, three RBIs and scored twice. Jackson Terry had an RBI single and scored a run, Avery Mills singled in a run, Chuck Ord singled and scored a run and Connor Burks scored a run.

Seth Mayfield pitched five innings and was credited with the win. He allowed one run on five hits while striking out four batters. Trace Hill pitched two innings in relief, allowing no runs on two hits while yielding a walk.
