BBES student’s artwork to be featured in ‘16 calendar

Kaylee Clabough, a student at Barkley Bridge Elementary School, has a chance to have a piece of her artwork to be featured on the cover of the American Kidney Fund’s 2016 calendar.

Her mom, Stephanie, also said that Kaylee was inspired to do the artwork while battling an illness last year.

“During Kaylee’s illness this past summer, her doctors asked her to enter a calendar contest,” Stephanie said. “She loves art so much. Kaylee entered, and we just found out she is one of the winners.”

In addition to being featured on the cover, Stephanie said Kaylee could also win a trip to Washington if she gets the most votes during an online voting contest. Local residents can log on to http://www.kidneyfund.org/patient-programs/kids-programs/calendar-art-contest/vote/ and view all 12 pieces of artwork selected for the calendar and then select their favorite artwork.

Kaylee’s artwork is listed as “Artwork #2 ‘The Life Saver’ by Kaylee, age 8, Hartselle, AL.”

As one of the calendar contest winners, Kaylee will also receive a $250 gift card.

Stephanie thanked everyone who attended the prayer vigil for Kaylee and continued to pray for her after that.

“We also appreciate how supportive the Barkley Bridge Elementary staff, West Hartselle Baptist Church members, Westview Church of Christ members and First Baptist Church in Hartselle members were during Kaylee’s hospital stay,” Stephanie said. “It made a huge difference to Kaylee and to our family to know they were all praying for her.”
