SPRING SPORTS PREVIEW: Priceville golf teams have all players back

Priceville High School’s golf teams could have a step up on their competition in the upcoming season thanks to the return of all of their players from a year ago.

“I feel the girls will be improved and more competitive since they have another year of experience,” said head coach Ben Estes. “The boys team has a lot of experience and came on strong in the second half of last season. I feel they are capable of doing well at the sectionals.”

The girl’s team consists of sophomores Jenna Mitchell and Brooklyn Jones and freshmen Rachel Veal and Brooklyn Smyth. Veal and Smyth are third year players, Mitchell is a second-year player and Jones is a first-year player.

The boys team consists of senior Peyton Morris, fourth-year player; senior Grant Thigpen, third-year player, junior Parker Guin, third-year player; juniors Kyle Haynes and Marc McLendon, both second-year players; sophomore Devin Thomas, first-year player; and freshman Brandon Speegle, first-year player.

The Lady Bulldogs will compete in Class 4A/5A as one of 17 teams assigned to Section 4. Other Section 4 teams include Ardmore, Brooks, Butler, Central-Florence, Columbia, Deshler, East Limestone, Elkmont, Lawrence County, Madison County, Pope John Paul II, Randolph, Russellville, West Limestone, Westminster Christian and Wilson.
