House fire claims life of pet
A home was heavily damaged and a dog was killed during a fire at 205 Tunsel Road just outside the city limits of Hartselle Sunday morning.
The Oak Ridge Fire Department was dispatched Sunday at 11:23 a.m. Oak Ridge requested mutual aid from the Hartselle Fire Department, which made it to the scene first.
Hartselle Fire Chief Daryl Fox said flames could be seen emerging from the back of the house. He said the fire may have started in the laundry room.
No one was injured, but Fox confirmed that the owners’ pet dog reportedly died in the fire.
The brick house sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.
A resident called in the fire because no one was at home at the time of the fire.
