Carlos “Chubby” Holmes

Funeral for Carlos “Chubby” Holmes, 75, of Eva will be Sun., Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ronnie Bullard and Gary Peebles officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Enon Cemetery in Eva. Visitation will be Sat., Feb. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Holmes died on Thurs., Feb. 5, 2015, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Morgan County to Looney F. Holmes and Buena Luell Woodard Holmes. He was a member of the Pines Baptist Church and was a drywall installer for Holmes Drywall. He loved drag racing and was known as “Chubby” by all of his racing friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two sons, Matt Holmes of Baileyton and Jake Holmes (Angie) of Florette; a sister, Dianne Hartwig (Mike) of Eva; three grandchildren, Matthew Holmes, Mason Holmes and Tristen Weathers; a nephew, Evan Hartwig; a great nephew, Xander Hartwig; a great niece, Chloe Hartwig.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Woodard, Billy Woodard, Edward Green, Ronnie Holmes, Ricky Holmes and Shannon Kreps.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zeb Nelson, Bear Nelson, Bull Nelson, Bill Nelson, Ed Eidson and Tommy McCaghren.
