Commission approves changes to CBD board
The Hartselle Planning Commission has approved changing the Central Business District Design Review Board to allow two of the five members to be local residents.
Currently, the board is made of five members who own or rent business space in downtown. If the changes are approved, the number of business owners would decrease to three of the five members.
City Planner Jeremy Griffith said the board has had a difficult time filling open positions on the board.
“We still want the business owners to maintain control of the board, but by allowing residents to fill two positions on the board, it will give us a better chance to have a quorum at our meetings,” Griffith said.
The revision to the board must be approved by the Hartselle City Council before it takes effect.
