Hartselle outscored Priceville 22-6 in the fourth quarter to turn a six-point deficit into a 56-46 win over the Bulldogs.

Trailing 40-34 at the end of the third quarter, Hartselle went on an 11-1 run to open the quarter. Jaxon Peebles ignited the run, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers to give Hartselle the lead.

Tobias Mitchell capped the run with a lay-up off a pass from Kylar Topps, allowing the Tigers to take a 45-41 lead.

“Jaxon Peebles and Casen Wallace are two guys that can really give us a spark when they get hot,” said head coach Faron Key. “By Jaxon hitting those threes, it helped stretch their defense, allowing Kylar and Tobias to get open in down low.”

Kyle Haynes kept Priceville in the game, hitting a 3-pointer to tie it up at 45-45.

Jaylan Jackson answered with a lay-up on a fast break. Dolan Golden also added a lay-up and free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

After turning it over 10 times in the first half, Hartselle had just two turnovers the rest of the way.

“I’ll take that in any half of basketball,” Key said. “We did a much better job of taking care of the basketball. If you take care of the basketball on offense, rebound and get stops, you’ll have a chance to win.

“We beat a very good team tonight. They are very well coached.”

Isaac Taylor paced the Tigers with 12 points and 3 steals. Casen Wallace added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Peebles finished with 9, all from behind the arc.
