Two charged with drug possession
Two men were arrested after several drugs were found at a Decatur residence.
The Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Division executed a narcotics search warrant at 102 Sixth Ave. NW in Decatur Nov. 14. Investigators found a quantity of synthetic cannabinoids (spice), marijuana and prescription drugs.
Anthony Ray Burgess, 43, of 233 New Center Road in Hartselle was found to be in possession of spice and prescription drugs. Justin Diamond Swopees, 22, of 317 12th Ave. NW in Decatur was found to be in possession of marijuana. Burgess and Swopes were arrested and transported to the Decatur City Jail.
Burgess was charged with two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor warrant. Swopes was charged with possession of marijuana second degree and three misdemeanor warrants.
Burgess will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,500 aggregate bond. Swopes’ bond was set at $2,000.
