William Bennie Osmer, 52, was arrested and charged with three counts of alcohol sales without license. He was being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $900 bond.

Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin said in a press release that charges are pending in Cullman County for the operation of a still to produce liquor.

The Morgan County Drug Task Force along with Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control investigators completed a two-week investigation on Friday regarding the illegal sale of liquor at Lacon Trade Day in Falkville. The task force received information from Morgan County citizens that moonshine was being sold openly out of the Lacon mall.

Undercover agents made several purchases of liquor being sold as a “fuel additive or air freshener.” Investigators located and seized approximately 2 ½ gallons of moonshine hidden within the business.

Upon further investigation, authorities located a whiskey still being operated at the suspect’s residence in Cullman County. Agents and investigators located and seized approximately 20 gallons of fermenting liquid at the home of William Osmer along with corn, sugar and yeast and equipment to produce more liquor.
