Funeral for Robert “Bob” Roy, 62, of Decatur will be Wed., Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Greg Standridge and Jeff Standridge officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery in Somerville.
Mr. Roy died Sun., Oct. 5, 2014, at his residence. He was born Dec. 16, 1951, in Morgan County to Ottis Eual Roy and Clara Ruth Madry Roy. He was formerly a machine operator for Goodyear. He was a huge Alabama Fan and was referred to as “Alabama Bob.” He loved fishing, playing golf and spending time with his grandkids. He was always laughing, joking and picking on everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Brenda Tapscott.
He is survived by a son, Randall Roy (Jessica) of Decatur; a daughter, Cassie Richards, (Lucas) of Decatur; two brothers, Joe Roy of Trinity and Marvin Roy, (Denise) of Locust Fork; a sister, Glenda Thompson (Dewight) of Decatur; five grandchildren, Natalie Hill, Noah Hill, Ryleigh Roy, Thomas Richards and Clara Richards; and special affections for his former spouse, Connie Houser Roy and her family.
Pallbearers will be Randall Roy, Chas Darnell, Stacey Tapscott, Jason Tapscott, George Thompson and Glen Standridge.
