Funeral for James Billy “Red” Chenault, 89, of Hartselle was Sun., Sept. 21, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Brown and the Rev. Nathan Green officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Chenault died Thur., Sept. 18, 2014, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 29, 1924, in Morgan County to James Madison and Cliffie Pittman Chenault. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He played in various gospel groups for 50 years: Sonny Jones and the Cavaliers, Osborne Brothers, Singing Servants and the Alterman Quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Elma Chenault; a son, Jimmy Chenault of Hartselle; a daughter, Brenda Thrasher (Larry) of Hartselle; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
