Sept. 3

The Kids Council is seeking nominations  for Hartselle Parks and Recreation Board to help plan activities. The council consists of two students from each of the city’s schools. Pick up an application at the civic center and return by Sept. 15. Board meetings are the first Thursday at 6 p.m. of each month.

 

Sept. 4-9

Hartselle Boys Youth Basketball will hold a meeting Thur., Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at Sparkman Civic Center to discuss officers for the 2014-2015 season.

 

The USS LST 325 is a World War II vessel that was part of the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, will be docked at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur and will be available for public tours Sept. 4-9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-17 and free for children ages 5 and under. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Senior Nutrition Center, also known as the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for friendly visiting, serious Rook and Canasta, a loud game of Texas spinner dominoes, sing-a-longs, informative chats and so much more. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Groups also participate in evening supper bus trips. Hartselle Civitan Club meets the first and third Monday at 6 p.m. in Sparkman Civic Center Room 10. The club works with Civitan International to support and work with people in our community with mental and physical disabilities and support the Civitan International Research Center in Birmingham. Civitan is the only civic club with a research center. Hartselle Civitan Club was responsible for starting the Special Needs Accessible Playground located directly behind the Sparkman Civic Center.
