West Morgan 60, Danville 51

Danville stayed close with rival West Morgan, but the Hawks’s comeback fell short in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks (3-2, 1-0) held West Morgan (5-0) to 11 points in each of the first three quarters and trailed 33-27. The Rebels caught fire to extend its lead.

Andres Cordova hit a trio of consecutive 3-pointers to keep the Hawks within reach, but the run came up short when he fouled out near the one-minute mark of the final stanza.

Patrick Doherty led the Hawks with 12 followed by Cordova with 10, Alan Cordova with nine, Isaiah Moore with eight, Kyle Alexander with six and Slater Robinson with three.

RJ Young led the Rebels with 16 followed by Keandre Swopes with 13 and Caleb Hazen with 12.
