The Danville Hawks scored first, but Good Hope quickly took charge of the game to win 49-21 last Friday night in Good Hope.

Hawk quarterback Colton McCay’s 47-yard run gave the Hawks an early lead, but Good Hope would go on to outscore Danville 42-6 the rest of the half to take a 42-14 lead.

Sebastian Fendley and Jared McClure combined to do most of the damage for the Raiders. Fendley got Good Hope’s first touchdown on a 60-yard run before connecting with Justin Turner on a 36-yard pass to give the Raiders the lead for good.

McClure then took over, scoring four times in the first half and once in the second. McClure finished the night with 140 yards rushing while Fendley added 99 yards rushing and 170 yards through the air.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the second half, as the Hawks were unable to close the gap.

Both teams will continue region play this week as Good Hope travels to Vinemont while the Hawks will travel to Walker County to face the Cordova Blue Devils.
