Balch Scholarship benefit set for August 17

The Edd Balch Memorial Scholarship Fund will sponsor an Evening of Entertainment at the new Hartselle High School Auditorium Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. They are seeking volunteers to participate in this variety-type show – singing (solos or groups), instrumental individuals or groups, dancing, dramatic reading, etc. Anyone who was directed by Edd or performed with him in a theater production or sang with him in Decatur Civic Chorus concerts are encouraged to participate. If you didn’t, you can still participate. There is no age limit.

Some of the confirmed acts include:

•Eliza Claire Balch and her friend Maggie Guyse (8 year olds – singing and maybe dancing)

•Joshua Duke – saxophone player

•Dean Johnson – vocal

•Jane Burrell – vocal (will be either duet or trio)

•Andrew Alford (vocalist) & Ransomed (contemporary Christian band)

•Brody Turney – guitar (old & current country music)

•Jamey Doss – vocals (Christian)

•Wayne White Quartet Plus One – Southern Gospel and Patriotic

•Mary Jo Landreth & friend – humorous skit

Proceeds will help pay for $1,000 scholarships to at least three local college students.
