Edd H. Balch

Funeral for Edd H. Balch, 69, of Decatur will be Thur., Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Waldrep, the Rev. Tim Keenum and Dr. Scotty Hogan officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., Nov. 14, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Balch died Sun., Nov. 11, 2012, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 9, 1943, in Limestone County to Hezzie Eugene Balch and Cecil Earline (Travis) Balch. Mr. Balch was a former Minister of Youth at Flint Baptist Church for 34 years. He was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir, the praise team, and helped with children’s choir. He was a member of the Decatur Civic Chorus. He was a charter member of College Street Players and has directed many productions. He was a retired insurance agent and part owner of the Rankin, Shelton, Hunter and Balch Agency. He loved people, and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elaine Balch of Decatur; two sons Dustin Balch and wife Susie and Ashley Balch and wife Amy, all of Decatur; two brothers, Paul Balch of Hartselle and Bob Balch and wife Henrietta of Decatur; two sisters, Mary Elliott of Decatur and Anita Halbrooks and husband Tommy of Vinemont; three grandchildren, Luke Balch, Bryce Balch and and Eliza Claire Balch; and a host of nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Steve Hall, Randy Barbrey, Tim Hutchinson, John Hall, Chase Barbrey, Rand Hutchinson, Nick Benson and Josh Barbee.

In lieu of flowers: Memorials may be made to the Hartselle Fine Arts Center, the American Cancer Society, the Hartselle Scholarship Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
