Funeral for Donald S. Morris, 71, of Decatur, was Fri., Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at the First Untied Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. W.G. Henry and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in the Herring Cemetery.

Mr. Morris died Tues., Oct. 16, 2012, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Morgan County to Stanton Nunn Morris and Sarah Garner Morris.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and appreciated visits from close friends. A member of the Cattleman’s Association of Morgan County, he also enjoyed raising cattle on his family farm in Massey. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Johnson Morris of Decatur; three daughters, Tracy Morris Michael and husband Thomas of Tallahassee, Fla., Monica Morris Vest and husband Andrew of Hartselle and Ceil Morris Heath and husband William of Vestavia; five grandchildren, Hagan Morris Michael and Anna Grace Michael, both of Tallahassee, Fla., Eleanor Ruby Vest of Hartselle and Andrew Stanton Heath and Charles William Heath, both of Vestavia; one sister, Martha June Reynolds of Covington, La.; two aunts, Robbie Garner Morris and Edith Garner Simmons, both of Hartselle; and beloved caregiver, Debbie Kilpatric.

Pallbearers were William Andrew Heath, Thomas Hagan Michael, Andrew Wayne Vest, Larry Keyes Strider, William Christopher Keenum and Jack Wallace Summerford.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Barcliff, David Buckelew, Larry Gambrill, Bob Schofield and Charles Garner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hartselle First United Methodist Church.
