Danville-Neel School plans festival on Oct. 11

Danville-Neel Elementary School will host its annual fall festival on Thurs., Oct. 11, beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets for games will be sold in packs of 20 for $5 and each each game will require two tickets.

Food will be provided. Items offered will include chili, cheeseburgers, nachos and pizza for $2 each and drinks and chips for $1 each.

The country Store will have cotton candy, jellies, jams, canned goods, homemade quilts and other items.

For a $1 donation, the ticket holder will be eligible to win valuable door prizes, including an X Box 360 with connections, a Nook Tablet HD and a hunter safety harness.

Everyone is invited to bring the family for an evening of fun. Proceeds will benefit the school.

Falkville’s 15th annual Fall Festival will be held on Oct. 27, beginning at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Falkville Volunteer Fire Department. The all-day festival will feature antique tractor and car shows and free entertainment. Featured entertainers will be the Dusty Winsett Band and Doug Stone and Kevin Denny.

There will also be a wide assortment of arts and crafts, food benders, and other activities.

The Carpenter’s Cabinet will hold a silent auction as a fundraiser at the same time. It will open at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. All donations will be greatly appreciated. For more information about Carpenter’s Cabinet or the silent auction, please contact Chris Waynick at 256-303-1285.

Falkville Public Library will be conducting a fund-raiser in conjunction with the fall festival. It will offer bags of paperback and hardback books for $5 each. Books for children, crafts, food, inspiration, romance, mystery, fiction, sports, science and travel are included.

Special belated happy wedding anniversary wishes go out to Bob and Kellie Sims who will celebrated their 13th anniversary on Oct. 2 and Dustin and Lee Ann Crow who celebrated their first anniversary on Oct. 8.

Baptist churches in the Danville-Neel area will observe World Hunger Sunday on Oct.14. In 20101, Southern Baptist Hunger ministries worked through 93,000 volunteers to serve over five million meals in the United State and Canada. The donations received are also used to support feed-the-hungry ministries around the world.

Shady Grove Baptist Church youth will host an outdoor movie on Oct. 14 at 5 p.m., a hayride on Oct. 21 and a youth concert on Oct. 28. For more information about these events. please call Cissy at 256-654-9283 or Sharon at 256-309-7284.
