Danville Middle School is conducting a book fair and continuing through Oct. 4. Books will be offered for sale at regular prices, but there will be a reduced price section for those looking for a bargain.

Oct. 3

Rummage Sale: Still hanging on to those unwanted gifts, outgrown clothes, dust collectors and other things that you could sell for extra cash? Now is the time to get rid of it and give you more space and more money. The semi-annual rummage sale will be Nov. 2-3 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day. Booth rental is $20 per space. You must attend both days. Registration began Oct. 1.

The Hartselle Band Boosters will be sponsoring their 16th annual marching festival on Saturday, Oct. 6, at J.P. Cain Stadium in Hartselle. They would like to extend a special invitation to you and your band to be a part of their festival. Their goal is to sponsor a festival with quality judging that will provide a superior musical experience to both directors and students. They want directors and students to feel their festival is one of the highlights of their marching season. This is also their major fundraising activity.

 

On Oct. 6, the Hartselle Fine Arts Center will present Renaissance, a popular program of vocal, instrumental and drama entertainment produced by Bethel University (Tenn.) faculty and students. The theme will be “Bluegrass Night” and admission will be $5 per person. At the same time, an open house will be observed.

The Southland Flywheelers Antique Engine and Tractor Show and Fall History Expo Day will be held at the Decatur Fairgrounds on Sat., Oct. 6, Activities will include hand picking cotton, live demonstrations with an 1881 cotton gin, freshly harvested boiled peanuts, freshly ground corn with a 100-year-old grist mill, antique tractors/antique hit & miss engines, antique farm implements and arts/crafts of yesterday.

The Boger Family Reunion will be held Sat., Oct. 6, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, located off Vaughn Bridge Rd., Hartselle. Bring a covered dish. For more information, call 256-751-2807.

Massey School Reunion will be held Sat., Oct. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Massey Fire Station, 386 Evergreen Rd. All who have attended, taught or worked at Massey School or who have lived in the Massey community and have an interest are welcome. Pinterest Party: Attention Pin–a-holics! On Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., we will be feeding the Pinterest addiction by creating a Pinterest project. We have selected a whimsical Halloween themed wreath. The fee is only $15 and includes all supplies. All you need to bring is your creativity. Please register and pay no later than Oct. 10.

The 5th Annual Bluegrass Festival will be held on Sat., Oct 13, beginning at 10 a.m. at Gurley’s Soggy Bottom Music Barn near Florette. Featured singers will be Poor House, Southern Heritage, Cross the Mountain, Solid Blue, Pam Thrower & Stone and Stanley Adair and the Sugar Rush Band. Admission will be $10. Food will be available. The 15th annual Falkville Fall Festival will be held on the streets of Falkville on Sat., Oct. 27. It will begin with a Pancake Breakfast at 7 a.m. sponsored by the Falkville Volunteer Fire Department. The Festival features an antique tractor show, car show and free entertainment. We are proud to announce this year’s music will be provided by The Dusty Winsett Band and Doug Stone/Kevin Denny. There will also be a wide assortment of arts and crafts, food vendors, bingo and other activities for the young and young at heart. Please join us at this family oriented event.
