Four arrested in meth lab bust

Four people were arrested following a meth lab bust at a Danville home Wednesday after agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force performed a welfare check on a 15-month-old baby.

The suspects arrested are as follows:

• Charles Daniel Blankenship was charged with unlawful manufacturing a controlled substance first degree and unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun. He is being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $300,000 bond.

• Cody Davis was charged with unlawful manufacturing a controlled substance first degree and unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun. He is being held on a $350,000 bond.

• Haley LaShea Davis and Amanda Thurman both were charged with unlawful manufacturing a controlled substance first degree. They are being held on bonds of $150,000 each.

On Wednesday, Morgan County Drug Task Force agents responded to 1501 Kirby Bridge Road for the welfare check.

Agents executed a search warrant and discovered three one-pot methamphetamine labs, gas generators that were still smoking, acid, salt, lithium strips, coffee filters and cold packs. They determined that the suspects were staying in the residence and were cooking methamphetamine.

Agents also discovered a sawed off shotgun in the residence. During the search, agents observed that Cody Davis was hiding in a field behind the residence and also learned that Haley Davis was possibly pregnant.

Also, officers observed Thurman was passed out on the bed with several used syringes around her. The child in question was at the residence earlier in the day but had left with a relative.

Officers also learned that Cody Davis and Thurman were out on bond from Lawrence County on a manufacturing charge from two weeks ago. Mud Tavern, Punkin Center and Decatur fire departments assisted in the decontamination of the suspects.
