Parks and Recreation announces fall events

Hartselle Parks and Recreation Department has announced its schedule of fall events as follows:

Dance classes-Once again, Dale Serrano’s Studio of Performing Arts of Birmingham is offering ballet, tap. Jazz and hip hop dance classes to boys and girls of ages 2 through adults. Classes are taught on Tuesday afternoon. The monthly fee is $50. For more information, call 205-822-6378 or go on line to www.daleserranodance.com.

Aerobics-Mellonie Chappell is leading a step aerobics class suitable for all ages. It’s the perfect opportunity to lose a few pounds and make new friends at the same time So, it’s time to get moving. The fee is only $25 per month or $10 per visit. The class meets Tuesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Civic Center main gym. The first class is free.

Senior Nutrition Center- Are you age 60 or older and think you would enjoy mystery trips, monthly birthday parties, hymn book singing, puzzles, card games and listening to live performances of Dolly and Patsy songs and more? Then the Hartselle Senior Center is the place for you. Along with social activities, a nutritious meal is served. The suggested daily donation is $1.25 If you would like to attend but don’t have a ride, a bus is available to pick you up and take you home for a suggested fee of $1 each way. Boys 2 Men-There is a growing number of boys being raised by single mothers. These young men are missing out on learning “man” things. This class will teach them basic automotive skills, tool information, lawn care, camping basics, grilling, fishing and much more. The class will meet in October on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

A fishing trip will be Sun. Oct. 21, on Vaughn Bridge Road. Parents are responsible for transportation and supplying a rod and reel or fishing pole. Bait will be supplied. The fee is $10- for the entire session. Please register and pay at the Civic Center no later than Sept. 26.

Pinterest Party-Attention pin-a-holics! On Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., we will be feeding the Pinterest addiction by creating a Pinterest project. We have selected a whimsical Halloween door wreath. The fee is only $15 and includes all supplies. All you need to bring is your creativity. Please register and pay no later than Oct. 10.

Rummage Sale-Still hanging onto those unwanted gifts, outgrown clothes, dust collectors and other things that you could sell for extra cash? Now is the time to get rid of it and give you more space and more money. The semi-annual rummage sale will be Nov. 2-3 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Booth rental is $20 per space. You must attend both days. Please register and pay no later than Oct. 19. Registration begins Oct. 1.

Country Cookin’ 101-

In the hustle and bustle of today’s fast-paced lifestyle the art of old-fashioned country cookin’ has been replaced with supper from a sack. During this class you will learn how to make chicken and dumplings, fried taters, green beans and nanner pudding’.

This instructional class will be held on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. Please register and pay the $10 fee no later than Nov. 5.
