Man charged with making meth

A Hartselle man is facing charges of manufacturing methamphetamine after trying to run from his home where a one-pot lab was found Friday.

George Irvin of to 85 Collins Lane was charged with unlawful manufacturing a controlled substance first degree. He is in the Morgan County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

Officers with the Morgan County Drug Task Force are also seeking another suspect in the case.

Morgan County Drug Task Force agents responded to a welfare check on several children at the suspect’s residence. Morgan County Department of Human Resources advised the officers that methamphetamine was being cooked in presence of children. Agents discovered a one-pot meth lab in the garbage can, along with plastic bottles, coffee filters, cold medicine blister packs, lithium and the suspect’s name next to the meth lab.

One of the officers saw a man, who was later identified as Irvin, run. After being caught, a sheriff’s department press release stated that Irvin lived at the address with his wife and three kids. Irvin also said he didn’t know where the kids and his wife were.
