Pageant sees big improvement in 2012

Contestants participating in the annual Depot Days Pageant got to see a number of the upgrades in the 2012 edition of the event.

Angela Hale, pageant director, said that while the number of contestants was down from last year, the pageant, however, was much more successful.

“We probably brought in more than we did last year,” Hale said. “It was very successful.

“While it wasn’t necessarily bigger this year, we did a number of upgrades.”

The pageant moved back to the Sparkman Civic Center for the first time in a few years after it was held at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center.

“We moved it back there because we just didn’t have enough room,” Hale said. “Plus, it allowed us to have some vendors during the pageant, where there was something to do while waiting on the contestants to have an outfit change. I think it worked very well.”

The overall winners were Tiny Miss Depot Days Allison Chudy, Little Miss Depot Days Kari Erickson, Petite Miss Depot Days Rayleigh Grace Myers, Miss Depot Days Destany Sherman and Teen Miss Depot Days Harper Rentz.

They also had a division for boys as well. Justin K. Jackson was crowned Tiny Master Depot Days 2012 while Little Master Depot Days 2012 was Christopher Hutson.
